International Folklore Festival Faces of Tradition 2020 Zielona Góra

This year, the International Folklore Festival Faces of Tradition 2020 Zielona Góra, was held on 17-20.09.2020 in a hybrid form. The Festival Organizer was, as always, the Regional Centre for Culture Animation in Zielona Góra.

23 bands attended and presented themselves online during the Festival: 6 foreign bands (Nepal, Ukraine, Senegal, Israel, Algeria, Turkey) and 17 bands from Poland. The following guests of the Lubuski Region performed live shows:

- Singing band „DĄBROWSZCZANKA” from Dąbrówka Wielkopolska,

- Singing band „KRYNICZEŃKA” from Białków,

- The band of Czadeccy Highlanders “STANOWIANIE” from Stanów,

- Koźlarska band „KOTKOWIACY” from Zbąszynek,

- Bukowińscy Highlanders Band “WARTA” from Brzeźnica,

- White singing group “DREWNO” from Zielona Góra,

And the Lubuski Festival host - The Ludwik Figas Dance and Song Band.

The main location of the event was the stage with the LED display mounted on the Teatralny Square in Zielona Góra as well as by the second LED display located on one of the major residential estates of Zielona Góra.

On 17-19 of September this year contest presentations of the Polish and foreign folk bands, groups and singers were displayed on the LED displays and performances were held by the Theatre of the Lubuski folk bands, who were the Region's guests. 

On the final day of the Festival, 20 September,  during the Grand Finale “Gala of Tradition” presentations of all festival participants were displayed on the LED Displays, further to the live performance of the Festival Host - The Ludwik Figas Lubuski Dance and Song Band.

The festival assumed a contest form in three main categories:

- Musicians in Zielona Góra (contest for the bands),

- Singers in Zielona Góra (contest for the band vocalists),

- Music-dance programme (contest for the bands).

An SMS voting was organized during which the audience was able to cast votes in favour of the selected by them Bands.

The artistic council was held in an online form, while the contest results were announced during the gala concert.

Also, other actions such as the folk fair, dancing and vocal animations, contests and workshops for children and the youth were held during the Festival.

The Festival was viewed live by approx. 3,000 viewers and the workshops were attended by more than 300 children. SMS voting attracted more than 4500 attendees. The number of viewers who watched online concerns exceeded 7,500 persons.
